REC Special Requests: Spring 2023

For information about the REC Program, please contact the Executive Director, Michelle King, at vysoadmin@gmail.com.

Special Requests Accepted

The VYSO Board of Directors allows for certain requests to be submitted with regards to team placement of players. No guarantees are given that the requests will be accepted and/or honored.

In order for your request to be reviewed, all of the following must be received by the on-time registration deadline as posted on the VYSO Website. For the Spring 2023 season, the deadline is Saturday, February 4, 2023.

  • player registration submitted in GotSport (https://vyso.org/rec-registration/)
  • full payment (or payment plan set up in GotSport)
  • player’s date of birth verified
  • special request fee of $5.00 (refunded if request not approved)
  • special request form (link below)

The following requests are accepted. Only ONE request may be submitted for each player.

Sibling Request

This request is acceptable provided that none of the siblings moves up more than one age level. You can reference the Play Up Eligibility Chart on this page to determine if the younger sibling(s) will be allowed to play up. If a younger player requests to play with an older player, it will be assumed that you understand the younger player will be moved up to play with the older player if the request is approved.

Request For a Girl to Play on a Boy’s Team

This request is acceptable provided that she does not play up more than one age level. You can reference the Play Up Eligibility Chart on this page to determine if she will be allowed to play up.

Not Play for One Specific Coach

This request is acceptable if you provide the coach’s first and last name. There must also be a space open on a team in the child’s age group that is not coached by that specific coach.

Play Up Request

This request is acceptable provided that the player does not move up more than one age level. You can reference the Play Up Eligibility Chart on this page to determine if the player will be allowed to play up.

Buddy Request

This request is acceptable provided that BOTH PLAYERS submit a buddy request for each other. There is a limit to the number of buddy requests per team; you can read more in the Standing Rules, section 2.7.c.5. You can reference the Play Up Eligibility Chart on this page to determine if the younger player will be allowed to play up. If a younger player requests to play with an older player, it will be assumed that you understand the younger player will be moved up to play with the older player if the request is approved.

Specific Practice Day Request

This request is only acceptable from players that will be on a U08 or younger team. You can submit a request to have your child placed on a team that will hold practice on one (1) specific day. There is no guarantee that your request will be able to be honored. The request will be honored if:

  • there is space on a team that has a coach in place when teams are formed, and
  • the coach has submitted his/her anticipated practice day(s), and
  • the coach has an anticipated practice day that matches the request.
