VYSO People of the Season Awards

The VYSO People of the Season Awards provides an opportunity for parents and members of VYSO to nominate individuals to be recognized for their contribution to the VYSO soccer programs.

The Board of Directors will choose a winner among the nominations received and will announce the winners on the last game day of the season.


Coach of the Season Award

The Coach of the Season Award is a way to recognize a volunteer youth soccer coach
for outstanding coaching, sportsmanship, and player development.

To be nominated, the individual must be a head coach or assistant coach on a VYSO REC or select team for the Spring 2022 season.


Volunteer of the Season Award

The Volunteer of the Season Award is designed to recognize the true “volunteer,” the person who gives freely of their time and talent for the “good of the game” and the children who play the game. The person must have served in a voluntary position (not salaried) for some period of time and should have performed a variety of duties/tasks.

To be nominated, the individual must have volunteered during the Spring 2022 season.


Youth Referee of the Season Award

The Youth Referee of the Season Award is a way to recognize an active youth referee, under the age of 19, for outstanding accomplishments.

To be nominated, the individual must be a certified referee, be 18-years old or younger, and have refereed games during the Spring 2022 season.


Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award

The Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is a way to recognize an outstanding student-athlete that meets the following criteria:

  • Currently registered VYSO player on a U17 or older team
  • Full-time student (high school or college)
  • GPA for preceding two semesters of 3.5 or higher
  • Demonstrates the qualities of sportsmanship defined as:
    • Observes the Laws of the Game
    • Shows enthusiasm for the game
    • Plays to his/her utmost potential
    • Demonstrates respect for teammates, opponents, and officials
    • Consistently participates in a sportsmanlike manner
